Call For Submissions
DEADLINE: May 20, 2026
Each year, we at Poets Against Racism & Hate USA commemorate the anniversary of George Floyd’s murder with poetry centering on the theme of systemic racism in the United States. We vary formats from year to year to help ensure the endeavor’s freshness and durability. This year we will publish a special collection of poetry on the Featured Poem page of our website.
We invite all PARH USA members to submit poetry for potential inclusion in our In This Together 2026 special collection. (You must be a member to submit; go here for more information.)
Submission guidelines are as follows:
- Send your submission via email by May 20, 2026.
- Submit only one poem and ensure that the poem addresses in some way the theme of systemic racism in the United States.
- Send your submission email to poetsagainstracism.usa@gmail.com. Include “In This Together 2026 submission” as the subject of the email. As an attachment, send one poem and a biographical statement (written in third person and not more than 100 words). File types accepted are .doc and .docx.
- In the body of the email, include the following permission statement: I confirm that I am at least 18 years old, that I own the content I am submitting, and that my submission does not include AI-generated content. I grant Poets Against Racism & Hate USA permission to publish my submission on its website and to use my submission for marketing purposes on social media and otherwise. I understand that I will retain all further publishing rights to my submission.
- Understand that PARH USA does not tolerate any kind of discrimination, hate speech, or endorsement of violence and that we reserve the right to work with an author regarding slurs or other language used to demean a particular group, especially if the author is not a member of the targeted group. Ensure that any poetry you submit is respectful and considerate of the diverse groups that make up the PARH USA community, our audiences, and our larger world.
- If the poem you are submitting was published previously, let us know which literary journal, website, or other forum we should credit if we choose to include it.
Please note that if you have a relevant poem that already has been accepted for publication as a PARH USA Featured Poem, we can consider that poem for publication in this collection instead. (If your poem is not selected for the collection, it still will be published as a Featured Poem.) Likewise, if you’re awaiting our decision on a poem you’ve submitted for publication as a PARH USA Featured Poem, we can consider that poem for publication in the collection. If you’re interested in one of these options, let us know in your submission email.
